Replacement Policies

1. The reader must compensate the Library with an exact copy of the same title or a newer edition.

 

2. If it cannot be replace, a fine will be imposed based on the following criteria:

 

  a. For items with a demarcated “sale price,” the fine shall be twice that amount.

 

  b. The fine for Chinese books is at least $500 per item.

 

  c. The fine for Foreign-language books is at least $1,000 per item.

 

  d. The fine for Japanese & Korean books is at least $1,000 per item.

 

  e. The fine for non-book materials is at least $1,000 per item.

 

3. For items with no price shown, the following rules will be imposed:

 

  a. If material is published in Taiwan, the rate will be $3 per page

 

  b. If material is published outside of Taiwan, the rate will be $5 per page.

 

4. For items with no pages indicated, the following rules will be imposed:.

 

  a. The fine for Chinese materials will be compensated at a price of $500.

 

  b. The fine for Foreign-language materials will be compensated at a price of $1,200.

 

  c. The fine for Japanese & Korean materials will be compensated at a price of $1,000.

 

  d. The fine for non-book materials will be compensated at a price of $1,000.

 

5. If the lost book is one of a complete set of books. And the book cannot be replaced, because they are sold in complete sets, the fine will then be the price of the complete set.

 

6. Readers are expected to take good care of Library collections. In the event vandalizing, contamination, loss, long-term non-return, or damage, Library Privileges will be suspended and fines will be imposed.

 

7. If readers loss the materials after checkout, it must be reported before the due date. There will be 30 days to deal with the replacement for materials. If readers do not deal with the replacement within 30 days, the overdue fine will be imposed.

 

8. These Regulations were approved by the University Senate. Any changes must receive their approval.
