1. Library Resources
are for academic and research purposes.
2. Entrance Requirements
A current, valid Tunghai University student, faculty, staff, alumni identification card or personal Taiwan National Identification Card is required for entry.
3. Hours and open times
a. During the Academic Year:
Monday-Friday: 8am-9:30pm
Saturday-Sunday: 9am-18pm
b. Closed on National Holidays or during special events.
c. During Summer and Winter vacation reduced hours. Please check for open times.
d. Basement General Study Room
(1) Use is restricted to students, teachers, staff and alumni.
(2) Open Hours: 8am – 11pm daily.
(3) Extended Hours: one week prior to and during Mid-Term & Final
Exam Weeks, open until 12 midnight
(4) Closed on National and University Holidays. Summer & winter vacation: Reduced hours, please check for times.
4. Behavior and Environment
Visitors to the library should be considerate of others by being quiet and keeping the environment clean and neat. Shoes should be worn and loud behavior is discouraged at all times. Food, sugar-sweetened beverages and pets are not allowed in the library. Smoking, chewing betel nut and gum is also prohibited. Violators may lose their library privileges for one semester.
5. Open Stacks Policy Library
patrons are free to browse our open stacks, except for thread-bound books and the University Historical Literature. If you select a book from the open stacks, then please return it to the "waiting shelf" and our staff will properly re-shelve the book. Periodicals and newspapers MAY NOT be checked out. Patrons should return newspapers, periodicals, and reference books to their original shelves. However, please return books to the “waiting shelf”.
6. Circulating Items
Books, curriculum materials, and pamphlets may be checked out. Renewals may be requested online by logging into your library record.
7. Saving Seat Policy
In consideration of others and because of limited availability of seats, please do not use your personal belongings to save a seat. If you leave, then please take your personal belongings with you. If you leave your seat for more than forty minutes, then others are allowed to move your personal belongings aside and take your seat. If you do not follow this rule, then you may lose your library privileges.
8. Replacement Policy
If a library patron loses, defaces, or damages any part of the library collection, then he/she is responsible for the item’s replacement. Details are set out in the "Tunghai University Replacing Books Regulations." If someone is caught stealing any part of the library collection, then that person will be reported to the university authorities to face appropriate punishment, penalty and/or fine.
9. Amendments
These Library Policies and Regulations were approved by the University Senate, any changes must receive their approval.
